August 2026

Dear Jaguar Families,

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! I am honored to continue serving as the principal of Charles M. Johnson Elementary, and I look forward to another incredible year of partnership with our wonderful Jaguar community.

Prior to joining the Johnson Family six years ago, I served as the Associate Principal of Jacob L. Adams and Greenwood Elementary. Every step of my educator journey has shown me how capable our students are when they have the right support team behind them!

Our school theme this year is “Level Up Learning!” This year, we are challenging our students to gain new skills, conquer new goals, and unlock their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.

To help our Jaguars "power up" this year, we will continue to focus on:

  • Building Strong Connections: Prioritizing positive relationships among all students, staff, and families to strengthen our school community.
  • Positive Behavior: Refining our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program to celebrate our students' daily wins.
  • Emotional Resilience: Continuing to expand our practice of Conscious Discipline, giving students the tools they need to manage challenges successfully.

As we kick off this school year, I am confident that our Jaguars will embrace every challenge as an opportunity to gain experience, grow, and become lifelong learners.

Get ready, Jaguars–it's time to work together, support one another, and Level Up!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Katie T. Vandeweghe Principal
